I have been seeing an endrocrinologist for 37 years for Addison's Disease diagnosed at age 13. Many years ago my beloved doctor retired (Dr. Glatte) and since then, I have search and gone to many other endocrinology and internal medicine doctors in this area. However, there was always something missing. A connection or personality that just didn't fit. I was desperate to find a doctor that I could develop a relationship with, that was personable and seemed to care. Dr. Hungerford was new to the area and came to my attention so I decided to try his office. At our first appointment he spent a lot of time asking thoughtful questions about my history and medication. He answered questions without making me feel stupid. At no point did I feel rushed. I found him to be engaging and kind. At last I have found a doctor that I am comfortable with and I couldn't be happier.
Patronising with a big smile! I have had my share of ignorant doctors who think they know better than every other doctor, and Dr Hungerford is on that list. He told me such things as "they know everything there is to know about the thyroid, they don't even study it anymore". He told me that the large benign mass in the thyroid couldn't cause any problems like fatigue or getting light headed.... my surgeon who removed the mass had a very different opinion (that they could under the right circumstances). He tried to scare me into believing that my doctor should be reported for malpractice, because she had put my on thyroid medication and he felt I didn't need it.... when all he looked at was my tsh, t3, and t4! He never looked beyond the basic test despite my insistence that there was something wrong and I needed the medication. He hates the idea that people use Google to educate themselves and look beyond his field of expertise. I have gotten tired of doctors like this and have begun to leave reviews to tell others in my situation that there are really good doctors, out there, who listen and actually want to help you feel better! They go beyond the basic care and will really do you justice! The only good thing I got from Dr. Hungerford was the referral to a great surgeon!
