I have rented with National Care Rental in Medford, OR and Bend, OR most recently. For whatever reason at the time of pickup they have not had my car available. When I arrive into a location on a business trip, the last thing I want to do is wait 30-45 minutes for my vehicle. Fortunately, the National staff is very helpful, but they cannot provide a car that they do not have available. I'm not sure if the National fleet is just too small in some locations or if they are just very inefficient or understaffed in processing their fleet, but I plan to consider other rental companies moving forward.
After I voiced concern that the site only had extra large vehicles for rent, the clerk accommodated me by discounting the rental. I thought this was going the extra mile and I really appreciated it. Thank you. I will continue to rent here without hesitation.
Medford airport is really small, one checkpoint and few airlines. Its great flying in and out of there because its so less stressful compared to SFO, SEA or LAX. All the car services there are good, really helpful folks. Only downside is being small they don't have a lot of staff on hand and they don't offer rapid pickup services, you have to go to the counter. There have been a couple occasions when it seemed like everyone on my flight also was renting with National and you end up waiting a while to get the car. However the convenience of having the cars right at the terminal greatly outweighs any minor inconveniences. If you have checked bags to collect its no big deal since you'll usually have your car sorted before the bags show up anyway.
National Rental is top notch and always a preferred vendor for me.
Terrible experience! I reserved my car well over a month in advance. My flight landed late, around 10pm. When I arrived to get my car, they told me they had overbooked their cars and did not have a car available for me. I was staying in Grants Pass which is about 30 min from the airport. National said they would cover my taxis there and back but it was extremely inconvenient on my vacation to wake up early and take another taxi ride (which aren't easy to get here) back when they finally got cars in. Go to Hertz.
